Drug Rehabilitation that works

Question by jae: If you are a recovered meth addict what would you pick as the one thing that has kept you sober?
I had 2 very very very close family members and my only brother in law start meth all within the same year and the 2 close family members stopped on their own without 3rd party help and my brother in law left rehab after 2 months but has learned alot and has stopped meth, cigarettes and even liquor i’m just wondering what we can do as a family to keep everyone sober, hope your answers help, this is the happiest we have ever been and i want it to keep it that way especially for the kids!!

Question by bradpast: Is there such thing as a “Weekend Pass” for a Drug Treatment Center?
My friend called me after spending a week and a half in a drug treatment center and he tells me that he is out for the weekend. He says they gave him a ‘Weekend Pass’ for having a month of sobriety, when I know for sure that he was using right before he left for the center… Trust him???

I’m a recovered alcoholic who went into a drug/alcohol rehab centre in 2006, first of all alcoholics and drug addicts are the world’s best liars, and I think it’s extremely unlikely.

During the time I spent in rehab, the most ‘time out’ I had was for one day during the weekend between the hours of 11.00am in the morning and 4pm in the afternoon, and that was only with a trusted adult who had to leave all their home details with the centre, and that was after two months sobriety.

I now work in another rehab centre myself which abides by the same rules.

That said, you are not locked into a rehab centre so he could ‘walk’ at any time, however he would not be allowed back to continue his program, if he has paid for his treatment or someone else has, the money would be forfeited, and if his treatment is linked to jail parole he would also forfeit that right.

Dated a woman for 14 mos.-Were friends for yrs-Older brother s3xually abused her during childhood. She’s 45 & lives at home (where the abuse took place) with her mom-in same room she had when she was 9. She’s attractive, had abusive relationships, but no friends. She has plenty of $ & could easily move out. As we dated, she would get weird—accusing me of saying things that are s3xually inappropriate. I never tried to do this, & we NEVER HAD S3X. I actually liked her. I was sensitive about the abuse, but she called me names, hit me & been emotionally abusive. After 14 mos., I decided to bring this up. When I tried, she lost it & accused me of s3xually inappropriate behavior 0VER 1 YR AGO. She also said I was s3xually inappropriate around her niece-24 & with a meth addict. Only been around niece 2X. Anyway, she stopped talking in Jan.-crossed paths with her 2X. She was uncomfortable-acting like she would like to talk. I sent her note expressing no animosity-wishing her well. Was this OK?

Are they the same? Or is crystal meth an amphtamine?

some people are born more susceptable to drug addiction, but is there such thing as someone born with an immunity? meaning they can’t become an addict to say.. heroin or cocaine even after repeated uses?

I heard you should inject the person with water or saline water. Not sure though.
Is there anything you could do to help them without having to go to the ER?

I have been going through the book Boomerang Love the last couple of days. i think my ex, the father of my son, might have BPD. He also has problems with drug addiction. Does any one know if this is common for people with BPD?

Or are there different kinds of methamphetamine.
Is crystal meth called speed in America?
Because in Australia they are two different things.

I’ve heard people say alcoholism runs in the family and they’re more genetically prone to being an alcoholic.
