Drug Rehabilitation that works

Question by Tom T: Is there an addiction treatment that uses the outdoors as a form of therapy?
I am interested in experiential education, and I am currently finishing up my BA in Social Work here in Toronto and I was wondering if there was a model that uses the outdoors as a form of treatment for addicts, whether it’s for alcoholism or drug use. When I graduate I want to combine the outdoors with traditional practice. IE. canoe trips that focus on team building, practical skills, and allow time for reflection. Anyways, I want to do some research and write my final paper on this holistic approach, but I was wondering if anyone knew the name of a specific model that uses these kinds of methods. Thanks!

I am Native American, and there is programs, treatment, that uses the outdoors through out the summer. I don’t know when you are planning to do your treatment. If your native, and in Toronto, there is a place on Queen /street called Aboriginal Health, check it out. They are lyable to help answer some of questions and point in the right direction. good luck on your paper and research.

I am Native American and there is a treatment centre that does use the outdoors for treatment. In Toronto, there is a place called Aboriginal Health on Queen st. East. I don’t know if your native or not, but that would be a great place to check out for some information that you may need. Good luck.

Question by Nicky: Is there a sober community for people over 50 years old to get there life back on track?
What if there is a woman over 50 years old that can’t get a full time job anywhere and has no place to live. Are there homes or communities for people like this?
Also, family members are too selfish to help out.

they are called half way houses, i think. ask a social worker. they would know for sure.

I’m from Carson City, Nevada and I would like to know if I could find a drug treatment center here. My son Ethan has finally agreed to attend a treatment program to overcome his crystal meth addiction. He experienced the negative effects of the drugs to his body and he realized that there’s still hope for a better life. I’m so happy that he’s taking this step into changing his life for good. Please help us find a drug rehab. I want to have the old Ethan back.

It’s nice that your son finally realized how precious his life is. Using drugs has never been the solution to any problem for it makes everything worse. I’ll include some sites where you can locate different drug rehabilitation centers. There’s so many to choose from and I’m sure you’ll find one that will work best for Ethan. I have a co-worker that I want to help. I see her struggle everyday doing her duties at work and at home. I guess the pressure led her to resort to drugs. I want to help her but I don’t where to start. Can you recommend me a counseling service?

There are so many counseling services available in Augusta. You can find the list in the link I have included below. You can choose the one nearest your place. You can also opt for the free 24-hour addiction helpline. Its number is also posted in one of the websites I have linked here.

Question by sniffysam: There was a documentary made a few years ago on the topic of drug addiction namely Heroin?
Towards the end of the program the documentary maker foolishly decides to take the drug himself in order to have some idea of how addition truly feels. Unfortunately he too becomes and addict ….
I have tried to locate this program online but as of yet had no luck in finding it?
The documentary maker was a black man who lived and worked in London, the program was aired originally of British TV which I believe to be Channel 4.
Can somebody please help me in finding this?

Question by Stacy: Are there any natural antidepressants available that would work on an alcoholic?
My father in law is an alcoholic. He is 60+ and it does not appear that he has an interest in getting help with his alcoholism. He’s gone to the VA…they gave him antidepressants. However, he won’t take them because he can’t drink while taking them. Is anyone familiar with any natural antidepressants that won’t effect him negatively if he continues to drink?

Yerba mate tea. Get the Bija brand, it’s the best. Put some local honey in it, it will help his immune system.

Also, the doctor needs to give him folic acid, it helps alcoholics.

And give him a food multi-B and lots of vitamin C and D.

I have a family member who is a recovering pill addict. He currently takes methodone as treatment. I was told that the money paid for the methodone is deductable for taxes. Is this true, and if it is, under what category is it a deduction?

If it qualifies as a medical expense all unreimbursed medical expenses are deducted on Schedule A; an amount equal to 7.5% of your agi is not deductible,- any amount over that is.

Question by † God Bless You †: What are some way to help with drug (opiate) addiction? Is there a way for free help with working citizens?
In particular pain killer addiction (opiate). I was doing them for about 2 years on and off. I was making (still am) good money and was able to pay the bills . I want to quit, I have told everyone in my immediate family about my addiction, especially my wife she found out the hard way.

I AM going to beat this, I WILL BEAT THIS ADDICTION.

I dont want to see anyone suffer anymore about this.

I am beginning to put more self confidence and respect for myself. I love myself.

i LOVE MY WIFE. I will NEVER go back to this addiction because i know what is more important in my life

I dont want people to respond with bashing or putting me down. I’m making this public because i am not ashaimed of this and i KNOW i can beat it!

please give me advice.
I’ve finally seen the light and let the lord into my heart. He has forgiven all my sins, i am now a christian. The lord has lifted all my burdens and filled my heart with love and joy. you can fight it! have you thought about going to rehab? it really helps you a lot when it comes to fighting drug addiction. you should also try joining support groups too.
