Drug Rehabilitation that works

Question by louanne80: As part of a class that I am taking I am needing to seek out 10 people who have had 10 or more years sober…?
and ask them if AA was a benefit to them. Anyone care to share?

Question by Lisa T: Has anyone tried taking Antabuse to help with alcoholism? Did it work? What were the side effects?
My husband has a serious drinking problem. I am desperate in finding something to help him stop drinking. He has tried many times but always goes right back. HELP me with any suggestions that you may have. Thanks Lisa

Well, Lisa….if he wants to stop drinking, great. Antabuse is not a great idea. I understand the pain and frustration you’re having. It does have bad side effects like seizures, jaundice (liver problems-which he probably has already) and severe diarrhea and vomiting. These are usually so bad, that the person stops taking the Anatbuse. Has he gone to AA? That is the BEST thing. It is more successful than anything else he could try. And you can go to Al-Anon. It’s for the family/friends of alcoholics. It will help you so much. Even if he won’t go to AA, I highly recommend Al-Anon for you.

I work at a good job that I just started a month ago. It involves driving a pallet jack on occasions.They told me that I couldn’t drive a forklift because I take Methadone. My boss came and told me that last night would be my last night in that department. He said to call Monday to find out what they will do to me.Can they fire me because I take medication?

I’ve seen so many Oprah shows and read so many articles about the drug and how it really is taking over the country and in particular young teens. I wonder how this has happened because from all the cases I have heard about, this kids start off doing it at 13 years old.

What does it do to you? Have any of you ever done it and if you have,why? I mean its hard for me to understand, because here in NYC, I dont know ANYBODY who has done crystal meth and I do know quite alot of people. Even my druggie friends dont touch it. Why is it soooooooooo popular now these days, especially in like the Midwest I’ve noticed..

yeah alot of people do the adderal here and alot of cocaine, but in the city teens stick mostly to weed and coke and occasionally herion which i guess is worse, but even the my most addictive friends are somewhat responsible with their usage, so this is shocking.

I took methadone recently and i need to know how long i have to wait before i can drink alcohol. Thank you

I was just reading that you are not supposed to take a diuretic when you are in a methadone program and I wanted to know what happens if you do.Thanks.

I took a sip of methadone to stop my withdrawl symptoms, will that hinder my treatment?

PS. We live nearby. Should I knock at his door every other day to see if he is on meth. He looks pretty normal on meth anyways. I am worried about him.
