If they have nothing and are homeless how do you get help in America for drug rehab?

Best answer:

Answer by meeka o
The local Mental Health department would have information regarding free drug rehab. The person may need to be admitted first to an emergency room of a county hospital (some states require medical clearance before admit.).

Question by iheartexistence: can a sober alcoholic – sober 3 years – take sedative prescribed by a doctor? i believe AA says no?
…but what if the patient has been prescribed them, and the doctor knows of their alcoholic history, and the medication is needed.

Best answer:

Answer by the ~maiden~ xanz
That has to be decided by the patient. But i would say that many times this can lead to problems. It’s a hard road, but altering the mood for one that is addicted, prescribed or not, can sometimes lead them to become dependent on something else, only trading one addiction for another.

Whether it’s needed or not, prescribed or not is not something that the body or brain concerns itself with. No one will be able to say how any one person will respond to it, whether it will cause problems or not, but the history of most would make it a risk.

Some people can be very tough with themselves and are able to do a u-turn if it begins to look like relapse is likely. Some cannot and will only convince them that because they need it and the doctor said OK, then it’s fine. Just remember that the doctor is human, AND the doctor does not have to deal with the consequences.

There are other ways to deal with anxiety. Biofeedback, counseling can offer cognitive exercises and techniques to help cope. If nothing else has been tried yet, other alternatives might be a good idea first.

Question by texassweetheart27: I am looking for a drug treatment center that i can take my children with me, how do i find them?????
i know that there are several places that offer treatment and allow you to bring your kids but i dont know how to find them, please help…..
i would rather my children not go to treatment with me,but its the only option i have.there is noone that is willing or is able to take care of them while im away, and i do not want to lose them.

Best answer:

Answer by James Watkin
You need to go to treatment alone and let your kids stay with their dad or grandparents. Why should they have to witness people puking and shaking and pooping on themselves and screaming and freaking out and sweating while going through withdrawal? You already put them through enough.

Then check yourself in and get help and arrange for whoever is caring for them to bring them for family sessions. Because you aren’t being a good parent on drugs so your wanting to parent them continually is a joke. You need to get yourself together away from them so you can be honest about the part of the parenting you are screwing up. And you cannot do that worrying about feeding and bathing and looking after them.

Go get help and let them be kids. And enjoy life away from you for a while. Don’t use them as a crutch not to get help. Kids would rather be away from a druggy parent for a year than be with one for a second. If it means they will soon have some normalcy in their lives.

If you are still hell bent on dragging them through it with you, call your local United Way and ask for drug addiction resources in your area. Then call all the numbers you get and ask your question. Eventually someone will be able to help you.

You hear about the stories. People, especially children, getting a hold of prescription drugs and dying of an overdose. Some of it is accidental by toddlers and babies, but increasingly it’s young people deciding that the medicine cabinet can be the source of their high. Parents and grandparents become unwitting drug dealers. And the fact is many Americans have old medicine, old prescriptions …
Craig Spadafora, Republican candidate for state Senate, said this week he would vote to legalize the sale of marijuana, during a debate with Democratic opponent Katherine Clark. Clark, meanwhile, took a hard stance against legalizing the substance — but said that drug sentencing should be re-evaluated in the state.

Please don’t give me any sarcastic or give me problems because of what I do. I don’t need anyone preaching to me or telling me I shouldn’t use drugs. I am addicted to heroin and have been for 7 months. I am trying to quit but there aren’t any recourses for detox where I live and I don’t want to take methadone for any long amounts of time. My plain is to take it for a few days to get over the worst part of withdrawals, I was thinking 3-4 days. I just want to know how many days of taking methadone it would take before I would become addicted to it. I know some people are going to want to say that it doesn’t work that way. I know people who have kicked this way so I know it gets you through the worst part of the kick. The problem is I can’t get a straight answer about how long I should take it for. If I could get a reason or reference to how you came up with your answer that would be great. Thanx.
