Drug Rehabilitation that works

Question by Anonymous: Should i suggest Medical Marijuanna as an alternative to my fathers alcoholism?
My dad has been drinking practically all his life and my grandfather was also an alcoholic. my dad lost his job, his car, and his marriage to alcoholism. I’ve read in articles such as, http://hamsnetwork.org/mm/, that marijuana can be a safer alternative to alcoholism and I’ve been considering it for a while. my father already attends AA meetings but it isn’t working for him at all. I try to convince him that drinking is bad for him, but he just dismisses the conversation and acts like my opinion doesn’t matter because he is older than I am. he tells me that he will be proud to die from drinking but I don’t want that to happen. please let me know what you think about marijuana as an alternative to alcoholism, and if you disagree, I would love to hear other solutions to alcoholism.

it is a very good solution…for you…!!..my point is,your dad has to accept that idea,it has to come from him,he has to WANT to do so,yes it is possible,but only if he has to will to do that…i did the opposite…start to drink beer in order to quit smoking pot,i tought beer helped me to go sleep and bypass the cold turkey,but….now i have a beer problem…wich one is worse?(better)?…but yes…if he can smoke pot without drinking,it is better to do so…he has to go to source of the problem i think the best way to quit addictions is ..first,want to change(obviously your dad wants to since he is AA)…second,take him to a good accupuncturist….it worked for me for other addictions and i’m considering doing it again for my beer/pot habit…good luck!

I am looking for someone to work with me on a book. I don’t know how or where to begin. This will be a book that alot of counselors will recommend to both troubled kids both on the run and/or in the system who come from drug/alcohol/abuse families and who try to make it on their own and how to change the “Life Cycle” that everyone tells us is impossible to change and how to deal with step children with a mother who is a meth addict. I have so much to share in a book but I don’t know how to limit and the book would be a filing cabinet long. I need somone who has good organizational/timeline skills. I will gladly share profits with a contract signed before starting. I will be in no hurry but would like this goal in my life completed soon.

Meditation works well for me, I use it everyday. I am a sex addict
and I want to stop the behavior. I want to find a free online Meditation
for sexual addiction, So I can download it.

I’m writing a paper for an intro neuro-psychology class on Alcoholism, but I’m really having trouble thinking of a strong thesis statement. I’ve learned a lot about the disease, but I can’t settle on one idea that is strong enough for an entire paper. Any suggestions?

I will not consider a 12-step program.
No AA–have been to hundreds of meetings but have actually found it detrimental. Have gotten sponsors, done all the work, etc. Just find the meetings so depressing and I already suffer from depression and don’t have the money to get help for it.
