Answer by Donna No. You need specialized substance abuse classes to be a counselor certified in this area. However, social workers do alot of drug counseling in social work practice. Its just not called drug abuse treatment.

I know someone is a chronic alcoholic and can’t work? Alcoholism is considered a disease by the America board of health or whatever it is called.

@ Dusty – I’ve been in treatment five times – I got it pretty well memorized.
Lately I’ve been getting all my socialization skills from the good people of R&S.
It aint going well.

Answer by Dusty Rhodes a counseling center or a rehab would be better…. more realistic. dont u think ?
e.g: -allocation of funds for centers that deal with these problems
-any kind of policy that helps people who get out of rehab to reintegrate in society
-subsidies that cover part or all of the treatment of patients with drug addiction
