I am referring to the firing of a 77 year old great grandmother, Bobby Shoaf of Rosewood Lane in Mocksville, who worked for the CAP program for eight years. Mrs. Shoaf is a lifelong Davie County resident who stayed one day a week with her mentally challenged sister, and was employed by the CAP Program, via the Davie County Hospital. Recently she was told that the new hospital policy now requires both the seasonal flu shot and H1N1 swine flu shot, in order to remain employed, unless obtaining a Doctors exemption for health reasons or having a religious reason to abstain. Mrs. Shoaf then contacted her Doctor, Dr Edwards, who wrote a letter on her behalf and stated in his medical opinion Mrs. Shoaf should not take any Flu shots given her potential allergic reaction to it.
