Burmese Refugees Recover from Addiction with DARE Network

An inside look at Mae La Oon camp, one of 9 refugee camps holding over 150000 people who have escaped the Military Dictatorship of Burma. The people in the camps have suffered unendurable losses. The camps have existed for 30 years. Children born in these camps have never seen anything outside the camp gates. DARE Network is making a difference on the Borderline. Dare is a remarkable organization, the only one, providing Prevention Education, Training, Treatment and Community-Based substance abuse work. Burmese Refugees have lost everything and are traumatized. They suffer from the effects of long-term shock and confinement. Please donate. Give where it counts. All of your hard earned money will go directly to DARE Network, a true grassroots organization that has been working hard for 10 years with the Burmese Refugees on the Thai/Burma Border. There are no “head offices”. We work in bamboo huts. There are no “expat salaries” to eat up your donation. All non-local people are volunteers. Every dollar helps, it will all go to the program. To learn more, watch the video and go to www.darenetwork.com or Friends of DARE on Facebook. Or come and visit us on the border. We need your help. You can reduce poverty, violence and change lives — one life at a time. This video was made by volunteers Rob Swain, Kimberly Rogovin and Robert Sahm. DARE Network is not associated with DARE the American Police Program
