Question by Unknown: Adults… dissect this possible match? Be as open and honest as you can.?
SHE: 29/female. Enjoys hiking, spending time with her dog, friends, family. Works in a financial office, full time. Has been in 3 serious relationships, all relationships ended by her – the last relationship 3 years – being isolated by the pothead boyfriend from friends and family. Never did drugs, drinks on occasion. Talks about her next relationship but admits she’s not ready for one right now. Doesn’t get jealous over HIS talk to her about other women.

HE: 41/male. Enjoys surfing, rock climbing, spending time with his dog and prefers being alone rather than with groups of people – but does enjoy going out. Does not drink or do drugs. Ex-drug addict and alcoholic (11 years clean drugs – 3 years clean alcohol). Has “been around the block” and had his FAIR share of one night stands, rocky relationships. Never been in a sober relationship. Talks about women that “check him out” constantly and gets a bit jealous over her talks about other men.

THEY: Neighbors, great friends. Spend tons of time together hiking, hanging out, talking on the phone. Have the same “sick” sense of humor, both very blunt and honest. Have the same hopes (relationship wise) for the future. Both possibly afraid to approach eachother regarding feelings that go beyond friendship but do a lot of flirting.

Dissect away, please.

Nothing to dissect. There is sexual tension, but neither wants to make a move for fear of spoiling the relationship. Absence of alcohol makes things worse. Some kind of “accident” is required to break the ice. Either accidentlally bumping into each other, or holding hands for a few seconds too long.

Is it possible for a 6-year recovered alcoholic to get life insurance?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 8 Comments »

Question by Thomas: Is it possible for a 6-year recovered alcoholic to get life insurance?
I have also been prescribed both Wellbutrin and Zoloft for the past several years…Does that mean that “I’ve been diagnosed with a ‘Mental Illness’ as so stated on many Term Insurance Questionaires? It seems that nearly 1 out of 3 adults are now on some sort of SSRI antidepressant, but I don’t think they would all be considered ‘mentally ill’ by their physicians….Heck, everyone is a little depressed these days.

I’m unemployed, near-penniless and am having my home repossessed next month after scraping up the last of my retirement accounts’ balances to pay this month’s payment, so I’d like to know that if I had to, I could somehow “take one for the team” so that I could leave my wife and only child (just 8 month’s old) with something.

i don’t actually know about the insurance but i want to congratulate you, you are a strong person and deserve so much better. I hope that all goes well for your family! It’ll get better day by day. I kicked crack 4 years ago, I went to prison, lost my daughter and everything i owned, but i got it back and you will too! Just have to work at it, don’t take your eyes from the prize xxx

Q&A: Do you think it’s possible for a recovered alcoholic to be able to drink again like non-alcoholics?

Question by Michel: Do you think it’s possible for a recovered alcoholic to be able to drink again like non-alcoholics?
I remember reading a while back about a controversial new rehabilitation for alcoholics where they teach you how to control your alcohol intake, not eliminate it. What do you think? Do you think this could work for some alcoholics?

Is it possible for a methamphetamine user to get a “bad batch” & act crazy after using it?

DRUG ADDICTION REHAB 4 Comments »

I have a relative who is a crystal-meth addict & he does have very bad mood swings & is very aggressive at times, however, the other day, he completely was almost out of his mind & saying some very hurtful & ridiculous things to me. I was wondering if it’s possible to get a “bad batch” of meth that might make you act super hostile & possibly act like your out of your mind, for lack of a better phrase? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Balla

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 7 Comments »

my boyfriend is an alcoholic he is 25 and has been one since 15. he recently was in a alcohol program (sober house) for 6 months and was going to the doctors regularly. the doctor was running tests and told him he could possibly have cirrhosis of the liver and was shocked when my boyfriend told him that he hadnt had a drink in a year and a half and said that it looked like he was still drinking til this day.. it really scared him and he never went back. Needless to say hes been drinking since he left the program 6 months ago everyday, what could happen to him if he really has this? can he just drop dead? how long can his drinking and surviving last if he really has cirrhosis of the liver?

possible to misdiagnose cirrhosis of the liver (repost)?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 3 Comments »

Last tuesday my father started taking indomethacin for a day or two because the aleve he was taking didn’t help the pain he was experiencing from a bad episode of gout.

last friday my father went to the er because he was light-headed and his left arm was numb. so went to the er after waiting for hours to be seen they ran several tests and determined everything is good except something funny with his liver. they said it is inflamed. but the papers said it was cirrhosis. they said to go to the doctor within 4 days and check everything out.

his doctor of many years read his medical history and seemed confident that it is not cirrhosis. he believes his liver was inflamed because of my fathers long time alcohol habits along with him taking aleve and indomethacin for his gout. he said to come back in 8 weeks to allow everything to get out of his system so he can run some new tests.

I want to believe our family doctor because the ER took hours before I was helped, then I’d sit in the room for long periods of time and wait for someone to come back. I’m terribly nervous and not sure what to think. My mom is going to make him an appointment for a second opinion with a liver specialist tomorrow.

he has stopped taking the indomethacin and aleve. also he has stopped all consumption of alcohol. he is only taking now cold & flu medicine for he developed a fever last night and has had symptons of a cold today.

so my question is it possible for your liver to become inflamed by a combonation of certain medicines?

Thank so much for your time.
