maybe you can try the court system. try going to legal aid, explain the situation with them. there may be a legal loop-hole where this person can be taken to a state run facility for treatment for alcoholism and bi-polar disorder, since bi-polar is a form of depression, aggravated by the alcoholism. i’m not in the legal or mental health field, but i think it would be worth a try. Narconon Deals with Drug Addiction Consequences. States Waste Billions Dealing with Consequences of Addiction, CASA Study Says Narconon Warns that the vast majority of the estimated 7.7 billion in substance-abuse related spending by governments on substance-abuse problems went to deal with the consequences of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, not treatment and prevention, according to a new report from the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University. The report, titled, “Shoveling Up II: The Impact of Substance Abuse on Federal, State and Local Budgets,” found that 95 percent of the 3.9 billion spent by the federal government and states went to paying for the societal and personal damage caused by alcohol and other drug use; the calculation included crime, health care costs, child abuse, domestic violence, homelessness and other consequences of tobacco, alcohol and illegal and prescription drug abuse and addiction. Narconon Just 1.9 percent went to treatment and prevention, while 0.4 percent was spent on research, 1.4 percent went towards taxation and regulation, and 0.7 percent went to interdiction. “Such upside-down-cake public policy is unconscionable,” said Joseph A. Califano, Jr., CASA’s founder and chairman. “It’s past time for this fiscal and human waste to end.” CASA estimated that the federal government spent 8.2 billion on substance-abuse related issues in 2005, while states spent 5.8 billion and local

Q&A: If a person has 5 to 6 drinks a day is it considered alcohol abuse or alcoholism?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 18 Comments »

Question by Kobe: If a person has 5 to 6 drinks a day is it considered alcohol abuse or alcoholism?
I personally don’t think it’s that bad even though it’s more than the recommended limit. As long as the people are not drinking and driving or drinking at work I don’t see why 5 or 6 drinks per day is bad considering that most alcoholics probably have at least a 12 pack per day. What do you think?
instead of “or” I should have put a slash /

Best answer:

Answer by sistamachete
yup, but its only bad if you can’t go a day without em

I have been married to an alcoholic man for four years and have experienced domestic violence as a result of his alcoholism. He is however currently in recovery and is sober and a much easier person to get along with now. Should he and I continue to work on our marriage or should we just let go and move on?

Best answer:

Answer by Bernedette
If he is recovering for the benefit of the marriage work it out. If you stop caring now so will he and there goes his rehab.

Can a person who gets drug tested regularly, but has been clean 5 years get a”dirty” from quitting smoking?

DRUG ADDICTION REHAB Comments Off

Question by paulj0557-vacuum cleaner expert: Can a person who gets drug tested regularly, but has been clean 5 years get a”dirty” from quitting smoking?
Let me explain.
I smoked for maybe a year before I started getting caught up in drugs. Can any ‘remnants’ trapped in the tar(?)if this is possible become ‘dislodged and get in my bloodstream? I did almost anything and everything, but the ultimate drugs I became addicted to were snorted at first, for a few months, but then I became a needle user.
This all ended when I finally was able to break free and get clean. It was a rough hull, my family and friends had not totally given up on me(at least in my mind) since I did not depend on them for my habit financially. If any of you reading this are into drugs now remember that your family does love you even if they are cutting you off emotionally-the fact is because you are doing drugs, you are cutting them off. Ask any of them and I assure you they would rather have your ‘old self’ back then to see you happy in your own mind and on drugs. Think about it.
Okay, here I said I didn’t want any preaching, and here I’m doing it. Sorry.

Answer by djfunkygrrl
If you tested clean while smoking; I’m not sure why you would assume doing the reverse would cause a dirty test?
In my opinion, the answer is no you will not get a dirty test from quiting smoking. BUT.. if you use a ‘Nicotine Patch’ or other medical drug device, you should let them know BEFORE being tested, just in case
