Q&A: Did the group The Backstreet Boys break up over members drug addiction?

DRUG ADDICTION REHAB 1 Comment »

Question by power: Did the group The Backstreet Boys break up over members drug addiction?
I was just reading that A.J. & Nick both had drug addictions & was not paying attention when they broke up. I did see them on a show (Oprah) years ago & remember them saying that A.J. needed to stop using drugs & got the idea that this is what caused problems with the group being able to work. Then I just read that Nick Carter has drug problems.

Backstreet Boys – Behind The Music

AJ’s interview with Oprah

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbQRSawirbs

The Backstreet Boys NEVER broke up. They took a well needed break that lasted a little longer than they expected back from (2002 – 2004). AJ’s drug and alcohol addiction wasn’t the only reason for the break, but it was something that he needed to address and work on because he just wasn’t the same. The reason they took the break was because when they first got together, it was non-stop touring and building a fan base and making albums and touring again, with little to no breaks in between. Add that to deaths in the family, open heart surgery, and drug addiction, their tanks were completely empty. They just needed to escape from the craziness.

The interview with Oprah was special because it was the first time he had opened up about his problem and Oprah had surprised him with a visit from the boys. It was the first time they had all been together in one room since the break started. After the show they started talking about making a new album and a year and a half later… Never Gone was released.

AJ and Nick are both clean from drugs. Nick eats better and takes better care of his body. AJ has been doing very well and is the happiest us fans have ever seen him. BSB are currently in the studio, making their 8th album that should be released sometime in 2011.
