My son who is 17 has a drinking problem. I found two big bottles of vodka in his room and vodka concealed in water bottles in his refrigerator. I have found a treatment center in the area that I have made an appointment with but my son refuses to go saying he doesn’t have a problem. The treatment center said I might have to get a Court order issued. How do I go about doing that if I can’t convince my son to go.

I am just amazed by the number of persons I know who are getting themselves treated in rehab– those who were forced to do so. Wouldn’t this be futile?

Answer by aisling ta Actually, the two common reasons why individuals end up in drug rehabs are because the court mandated them, or because their loved ones convinced them to go and get themselves rehabilitated. Researches have shown that those who were forced to undergo drug treatment programs can still benefit from treatment. Treatment programs that offer continuing care may be better for these people.
