Question by ny-gmen2007: i want to have a drink once in a while but i feel like AA has brainwashed me , 2 years sober?
i have 2 years sober and my lifes pretty good and i dont need it or fiene it at all i just could use an outlet , once in a while to relieve stress i wasnt addicticed to alchol before would only drink once in a while but i was addicted to heroin and oxycontin . i strongly beleive that i can just drink once in a while and not go back to my old habits and drug use . all suggestions are really appreciated . thank you in advance……
and i feel like i might not have been an addict all along i was just young and insecure but now im growing up and realize how bad drugs are for my health and that with my life in place i can indeed controll and drink only once in a while which AA says would never work it calls it the dream, and obbsession of every alcholic that some day they can and will controll their drinking

I would not ask people in AA for advice on drinking. The most ardent AA members believe if you get strinking drunk just one time then you are an alcoholic. For many of them they fear alcohol so much they have to take that stance so they don’t slip up.

You may not be addicted to alcohol but you might have a predisposition to it because of your addiction to other drugs. This could be a body chemistry issue or the so called addictive personality paradigm.

If I were you then I would find some other way to relive stress. It’s too risky for you in my opinion.

interesting question…but my mom was a meth addict and married my dad who was also a recovered meth addict and now theyre divorced because they just arent right for eachother

that probably wasnt the reason they got together, but my mom said she married my dad because he was an angry person just like her dad, and she thought she could fix him up..

idk

Q&A: Can a couple that were once drug addicts get clean and stay together clean and sober? or should they split?

Question by “smooothoperator”: Can a couple that were once drug addicts get clean and stay together clean and sober? or should they split?
Hello, a really good friend of mine started doing drugs with her boyfriend about a year ago and finally realized they hit rock bottom so they went to a couple of AA/NA meetings and relapsed a few times but a majority of people at the meetings keep telling them that they will never make it “together” because they are both triggers to each other. But then another couple said they are doing it clean and sober for 8 months now. She keeps asking me what to do, should she break up with him, get clean then see if it will work or just break up and be friends or just try it? She is totally putting her relationship in my hands but I am scared of giving her the wrong answers. Id rather NOT be involved in any way. But I am her bestest friend so please can I get some input?

you can definately make it together. you can correct your mistakes and lean on eachother to get through it. as long as the ot her person isnt pulling you down and holding you back from getting better

Get Married (At Least Once)
My son will turn 33 this August, on a Friday coming up. It is a significant age for a man, at least in Christianity, and it is one-third of 100 years. He was born in 1977 in New York City at Beth Israel Hospital. It was the summer of Sam; that is, David Berkowitz and his talking dog.

losing the sobriety that I once had?

DRUG ADDICTION REHAB 4 Comments »

I have fallen into the same patterns of abuse i once had. I am a recovery meth addict. I have not used the hard stuff, but alcohol and pot are becoming a problem. Yes I have a sponser and yes I attend AA/NA. Honest answers, if you have struggled with addiction, me and my friends have all kicked the meth habit, but seems like we can not get off the other stuff.

I know that where i am at right now is light years away from when I was on speed. Guess I am just trying to shed all my demons, but they are quite tenacious

Jazz Backing Tracks in Eb & Bb / uptempo – FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE – Bajan Pied Piper

ADDICTION NEWS 1 Comment »

FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE was composed by Ron Miller and Orlando Murden in the mid-1960s and has been recorded by over 300 artistes. It is a jazz standard in the repertoire of innumerable musicians. This backing track is in Eb and Bb and will be challenging for some beginners but we cant have all easy stuff! 0. If you are a singer go ahead and cantillate! Take a look at this link: www.youtube.com 1. Musicians ~ Grab your instrument ~ whatever it ~ and play along with the melody. Enjoy! SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVISING AND PUSHING YOUR MUSICAL SKILLS ~ 2. Your first step towards improvising: Replace some of the melody notes with notes of your own. This is easy to do and quite effective. 3. Improvise using the notes of the Scale. Land *come home* pause on a chord tone and youre safe. WATCH OUT FOR CHORDS WITH NON-SCALE NOTES – LISTEN to what you are playing and LISTEN to the chords as you progress. If you play a note that crunches (your ear will tell you! Never mind when this happens) – get off the note immediately and play on … :) Tip: Try inserting some semi-tones between notes, here and there. (Chromaticism.) Remember – there is no right or wrong in music. It’s what sounds good. What sounds good to you USUALLY sounds good to others! Do not settle into the proverbial box and succumb to the stultifying idea of cant do this and cant do that ! ! ! – be adventurous! 4. Use repetition of notes and phrases; chromaticism; silences; fill in ‘spaces’ with riffs. ALL THESE TECHNIQUES
