You have to learn how to except yourself for who you are ..and know that the way you were on drugs is not who you are know.

Embrace sobriety and learn to move forward.

Question by Melissa V: Can overdosing on certain drugs lead to addiction of that drug?
I am working on a project and this is one of the questions that needs to be answered.

Yes, anytime you don’t take the medication as prescribed it is considered abuse. You can really get addicted to any drug, but big ones for abuse are painkillers (oxycontin, percocet, etc) and anti anxieties (xanax, valium, ativan).

Hello there. I’m doing a research on the most commonly abused substances here in Manoa, Hawaii and I’m wondering if anybody has an idea about the topic. I really wanted to visit some drug treatment centers here to ask about it but I’m afraid that I don’t have enough time to do so. I really need your help. My report’s due in three days. Thank you.

I would just call a few of the centers near you. And explain to them you are doing a research paper and would like some information about numbers. Offer them an email addy where they can email numbers to you and facts. If they email you kindly tell them you do have a deadline.

Emory’s David Weinshenker, PhD, describes research into drugs that can be used to assist in ending cocaine addiction, in particular preventing relapses. Background Disulfiram has been used as a means to fight alcohol addiction; after taking the drug, people who drink had a bad reaction, worse than any hangover, and thus develop an aversion to alcohol. Scientists are now working on a similar drug for the treatment of cocaine addiction. Originally tests were done using disulfiram but now research is moving towards drugs like nepicastat that target only dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH). Question by Amanda: After becoming clean from drugs how long are your considered an addict?
I really wanted to know after being addicted to drugs for years and becomming clean how long are you considered and addict or recovering addict i thought for life you are recovering even if your are clean but many people seem to think that once you stop you are no longer a recovering addict.
