Question by lipgloss-junkie: What’s the difference between drinking to get drunk and drinking to relax?
I’ve heard people defend the practice of drinking alone as innocent relaxation (and I totally agree with that). But…as I’m sitting here after working and studying all day and wanting to enjoy a few cocktails in peace, I can’t help but wonder where the difference between alcoholism and relaxation is. And along those lines, do you consider drinking to get drunk to be a bad practice? Any thoughts?
Best answer:
Answer by Amber Alcoholism is just doing it habitually. You have one drink a day for 6 months and have with-drawls if you miss a day.
And getting drunk is a step further than relaxing

Question by ehsknights_cheer: What is wrong with alcoholism/excessive drinking?
I have a friend who goes out and gets drunk alot… what are some convincing reasons as to why it is negative and harmful to her.
I don’t mean like “getting drunk at work can make you lose your job”. It’s obvious that drinking/being drunk at inappropriate times can lead to negative social effects, but what are some other reasons?
Best answer:
Answer by connorb422 drinking too much can cause alchohol poisoining which is extremely deadly
Talk about how rough the resentment phase was on me, and how the drinking was gradually getting worse over time. Talk about being compelled to “do the right thing” and stop causing other people pain just because I was hurt. Come to the realization that I was not such a “great guy”, try to take responsibility for where I went wrong in the past, and express my desire to focus on the future and try to maintain positivity while giving up alcohol. Working on self forgiveness and forgiving those who have hurt or offended me. Video Rating: 0 / 5
STEP FIVE “———-confess with your mouth—” Ro 10: 9 “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” Jas 5: 16 “Now make confession to the Lord, the God of your fathers, and do his will.” Ezr 10: 11 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Jas 4: 6 “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.” Pr 12: 22 ADMITTED TO GOD, TO OURSELVES, AND TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING THE EXACT NATURE OF OUR WRONGS. The Fifth Step is the second of the spiritual tools which the addicted person must learn to use and which will be used by him for the rest of his life in recovery. It is a vital and indispensable part of the process of recovery, for it requires the verbal admission of those things about the person which he has struggled to keep secret. The admissions must be not only to himself and to God, but to another human being. It is this very fact of revealing himself to another person which teaches him humility and honesty to a degree he has never before known. It also has the cleansing effect of confession which is necessary for the freeing of the soul from the tethers of secret guilt. If this Step is not taken, the addicted person will not recover from his addiction! The Fifth Step is designed to accomplish several objectives. First, the admission of defects (wrongs) which is a spiritual requirement in order to invoke God’s help in solving these problems. Second, learning to use the process of … Video Rating: 0 / 5

Question by frankiegrease d: drinking in front of a recovered alcoholic?
I am having dinner with one who has been sober for 20 years. I would like to enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner, but absolutely want to be respectful and sensitive to her situation. How do I handle this?

Answer by Sterling If she’s been sober for twenty years, I’m sure that you having a glass of wine won’t upset her. BTW, alcoholics never consider themselves “recovered”. They are always in recovery.
