i don’t know what to do?

my husband keeps relapsing from drug addiction and is currenlty is prison right now. everytime he gets out he seems to be doing good up until he visits with his dad. he is very close to his dad and when i tell him not see him he gets very mad at me. he gets very defensive when anyone tells him to stay away from his dad. he told me even if his probation officer doesn’t want him to see his dad nobody can stop him because that is his dad n he loves him. but his dad has beed a meth addict before my husband was born. so was his real mom n step mom but they both died along time ago. his dad encourges him to keep smoking n even offers him in front of me. do you think i should tell his counselor? he was in the drug court program but got sent back to prison until their is bed space at a rehab center. i’m afraid that once he gets out he will relapse again because his dad claims to be worried about his son going back to prison because he thinks he might die while my husband is in prison because he keeps going in and out of the hospital due to complacations of years of drug abuse but he still keeps trying to offer my husband. i’m also afraid our son will end up like him because my son n husband both are geminis and are alike in so many ways. do you think talking to the courts, his probation officer and counselor about his dad will help?
i live in hawaii n my husband is very sociable. he knows everyone. their is no way for him to avoid other chronics especially his dad. how can i help support him with trying to get clean? i’m so worried about him relapsing or gaining a new addiction. i’ve been married to my husband for only 3 years but we’ve been together for 12 years. he use to be a alcohic when i first met him but when he quit he turned to drugs in 2001. is their anyway of him recovering with so many temptations around us. this last time he relapsed he claims he didn’t feel like doing it but he didn’t know why he did it and he needs help.

Can you get Cirrhosis of the Liver even if you dont drink Alcohol?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 4 Comments »

My uncle Alex 75 has just been diagnosed and is presently hospitalized with cirrhosis and he hardy ever drank alcohol. What else could cause cirrhosis of the liver?

He was in the hospital 2 months ago for his hernia and developed a bag or a lump of “water” they think a month ago, in his stomach..as big as your fist , 5 inches long…so he entered the hospital to remove this mass growing inside him and now the doctors say its because of his liver. It just happens to be a long 4 day holiday here “All Souls Day” in the Philippines and most people who could answer are gone.

Hoping I could get a few answers here on Yahoo.

Loan Modification: Don’t say the F Word!

ADDICTION NEWS Comments Off

Millions of Americans are learning about the foreclosure process for the first time up close and personal. If that describes you, youll want to become prepared for how the process works, how youll be treated, and what your options and protections will be. I hope this brief overview of the process will help. When foreclosure ends in repossession of the property by the bank, your credit report is stained by that F for 7 years. Its truly the F word on your credit report and should be avoided at all costs. No other stain on your credit report does as much damage for as long. Part of the reason for this is that its actually very easy to avoid. The process provides for your protection during a prolonged period during which you should be able to resolve the issues. In the 34 states that use Trust Deed instead of mortgages, like California, virtually all purchases involve three parties; the trustor (borrower), the beneficiary (lender), and the trustee (neutral third party receiving the right to foreclose). The trust deed includes a “power of sale” clause that gives the trustee the right to enforce collection of the debt. Collection of the debt is ultimately enforced by the beneficiary’s right to sell the house when the borrower fails to make the agreed upon payments. In a non-judicial foreclosure, the trustee must meet few requirements before selling the property. In comparison to a judicial foreclosure, non-judicial foreclosure is quick because the trustee doesnt need to obtain

Don’t Get Caught Up in Methadone Addiction

ADDICTION NEWS Comments Off

In some medical situations, a doctor or physician might order Methadone for a patient who is experiencing chronic pain or illness. Normally, Methadone is not generally prescribed for moderate or weak levels of pain because there are other, much safer medications that can be used such as Hydrocodone. But in some rare cases a doctor will prescribe Methadone when the pain is severe and it keeps popping back up, even when the patient is using a painkiller. Methadone lasts a long time in the body and therefore is a good choice when the pain is severe and keeps breaking through other medications that have been tried.

This “sticky factor” is a huge part of what makes Methadone so addictive. It is very, very difficult to stop taking Methadone once you are on it. The problem is that the drug is so sticky that it tends to cling to your opiate receptors in your brain for much longer than other opiate painkillers would. This makes for an agonizing and slow withdrawal process.

Keep in mind that treating chronic pain with an opiate is a bit like trying to use alcohol as an anesthetic for surgery. Consider this analogy for a while and you will start to see how painkillers are working in our brain in order to try and treat physical pain. What is actually occurring is that the actual site of the pain is not being treated at all, but instead the opiate drugs are fogging the physical brain so much that the person simply stops being concerned with any pain that their body might be in at the time. Getting to this point when a person is in intense pain means that you have to seriously medicate them to the point of being practically oblivious. Imagine using enough alcohol with a patient to properly prepare them for surgery and you have an idea of just how “out of it” a person can be on Methadone.

People think that Heroin is the worse opiate drug in the world and they think it is the most addictive. In some ways this might actually be the case. But if you look at the severity of cold turkey withdrawal, Methadone is actually worse than Heroin. When coming off of Heroin, anyone can go to a treatment center or drug rehab, stop using the drug immediately, and have medications administered that can control most of the detox symptoms. With Methadone, if people are taking a high enough amount of the drug, then this is really not even possible. The only way to avoid an intense and miserable withdrawal is to slowly ween the addict down in their dosage over time so that they are only taking a minimal amount of Methadone. This is not easy for some addicts to do in itself, especially if they have chronic pain issues that they are dealing with also. In fact, it can be very difficult to get off Methadone, even with this slow weening down process in a person with no chronic pain.
