Besides rehab…I mean that if you are a smoker,,,even a drug addict…all the media/medical addresses the “smoker’s ,etc solution. I grew up with an alcoholic father (my mother died when I was 12)…it’s amazing that there are “patches” for smokers and outside med clinics for various drug addicts……I need someone….a medical organization/medical to help me with my alcoholism…AA has not worked for reasons that I refuse to get in to. To me, regarding alcoholism and especially women with my disease is still a disease that no one wants to address head-on . Please any one of you share. Thx.

Answer by Birdie ☮ There’s this pill you can get (I don’t know the name) where everytime you take a drink you get really sick or throw up. Even just one sip. So it makes you not want to take a drink. If I think of the name I’ll get back to you.

Question by donnamz812: Can you cure a drug addiction with hypnosis?
A friend of mine that I care about very much is addicted to cocaine. She tried rehab once and it didn’t work, plus she doesn’t believe in the 12 steps model. Do you think hypnosis would work? I truly believe she wants to change, she just can’t “just say no” sometimes. Is there any help for a person like this?

Answer by ⓟⓡⓘⓝⓒⓔⓢⓢ♕ⓣⓞⓞⓣⓢ if she truly wants to give up her addiction she shouldn’t have trouble saying no and rehab should have worked, don’t get me wrong addiction is very powerful and maybe she just doesn’t have the willpower or maybe she doesn’t want to change her ways.
i do believe hypnosis can help greatly with addiction, im sure if she goes to her doctor they will be able to help.
unfortunately i don’t think its available on the NHS (if your in uk)

The documentary shows the impact on their lives and their communities’. The use of simple graphics and symbols enables members of Bukonzo Joint and Green Home to clearly visualise and understand their situation and collect useful information. The Gals methodology originated in work by Linda Mayoux with entrepreneurs and staff of Green Home, Bukonzo Joint and Kabarole Research and Resource Centre in Uganda, Port Sudan Small Entreprise Development in Sudan, ANANDI in India, Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan and Trickle-Up in USA. By July 2009 GALS was used by over 2000 women and men in Uganda and over 25000 in Latin America, Asia and elsewhere in Africa. Numbers are increasing all the time. Development and dissemination of the GALS methodology is currently supported by Oxfam Novib under its Womens Empowerment Mainstreaming And Networking (WEMAN) programme. Answer by choko_canyon Passages is a treatment center. Does it work? On some people, sure, but any treatment center can work in certain circumstances with certain people who really WANT to cure themselves. You can’t GET cured, you get help curing yourself. Passages happens to cost a VAST amount of money per month, like k, so it wouldnt be my first choice.
As for AA, it would probably be my LAST choice. It’s a fundamentalist Christian conversion program disguised as alcohol treatment.
