Question by dominique b: How to persuade or convince a person to undergo addiction treatment?
I know there are people out there who would say that the person has to hit rock bottom first, that he has to do it on his own… But I have heard of cases wherein the addict was forced to undergo addiction treatment, and that worked well. I just want to convince my sister to get herself treated for her alcohol addiction.

I think it’s really good that you’re so concerned about the welfare of your sister. You see, a lot of people who are dependent upon a substance don’t realize that they have a problem. One thing I think you can do is to talk to her when she’s sober. If that doesn’t work, then maybe you should do an alcohol intervention for her. You can talk to an intervention specialist about this. This is a process aimed to get the person to undergo treatment. Good luck!

She just won’t budge. I already tried talking to her, but when she starts telling me that heroin makes her happy, I just don’t know what to say next. She’s so stubborn. I wish I knew what to say to her to make her change her mind. Can someone please give me suggestions? I really want to help her.
