Question by thumbs down for the truth: can an epidural increase the chances of drug use latter on in a newborns life?
i know this question sounds ridicules but i’m a drug addict I’ve been clean for three years my father is an addict he’s been clean for 15 years his father is an addict chances are my kid will have to struggle with the same internal demons that all my family has and if an epidural increase that risk then maybe me and my wife should stay away from it

Answer by dumplingmuffin an epidural doesnt cross the blood barrier and has no affect on the unborn child ,also it is not a mind altering drug and cannot cause drug addiction to anyone at any stage of life

I am asking about drug addicts from 30 years and up. Because I understand teenagers try things and then quit,but 30 and up keep using or relaspes many times

Both of my parents were Alcoholics near the time they made me, though my mom quit drinking for the nine months she was carrying me, and my grandparents on both sides where Alcoholics as well. So I’m curious if I started drinking are my chances fairly high that I could begin to lose control over it and become an Alcoholic?
The question for many people leaving drug and alcohol rehabilitation is how they plan to remain being clean and sober? This can be one of the most challenging and difficult prospects for a recovery patient who does not have a tangible plan of action in place. Many patients find the best way to maintain sobriety is to check into a sober living facility for follow-up once they leave a traditional treatment program.

· Participate in follow-up treatment. Many traditional programs offer an after-care program to help recovery patients maintain their goal of being clean and sober. The length of time spent in rehab is essentially lost if an addict is not encouraged to attend 12-step meetings and take the desire to be clean seriously. With intensive follow-up care, many recovery patients dramatically increase the chances for successfully discontinuing the cycle of substance abuse.
· Take part in a long-term treatment program, it is the number one way to most effectively handle the daily challenges and struggles that recovery patients face. This is particularly important to a recovery patient who has tried but failed at saying clean for the long term.
· Participate in meetings every single day. This fact is something that will be heavily encouraged during rehab treatment, when going to meetings a recovery patient will receive invaluable support from other recovering addicts. Twelve-step programs are widespread and common; they provide immeasurable help to those walking the journey to recovery from substance abuse. Daily meetings will enhance the likelihood of staying sober for many people who may have failed previously.
· Find a sponsor and stay in daily contact, this cannot be stressed enough. After completing rehab, it is very important for a recovery patient to find a good sponsor to help them on their path to a clean life. When life gets too tough and things are difficult, it is always beneficial to have someone to talk too.
It is important for a recovery patient to use every imaginable tool possible when trying to maintain a clean and sober lifestyle. Each and every avenue utilized can be very beneficial in the struggles and trials associated with battling addiction and the demons that come along with it.
