It’s great that you managed to overcome your challenge as you did. If you think you’ll get something from attending an AA meeting, by all means try it. The worst that happens is you don’t get what you’re looking for and have to try something else.

I doubt AA is what’s missing. Feeling like there’s something missing is something that many people go through every now and then, myself included. Just give it time and you’ll realize what it is. Maybe you already know, and all it will take is owning up to it. Don’t turn to alcohol, that isn’t what’s missing either.

I think it would be great Idea- that is faboules- pat yourself on your back and go to an AA meeting you can get great support there- you owe that to yourself- Good luck-

    It’s not a good idea.

There will be folks in AA who will claim that you’re not sober, merely “dry” because you did it without their program. “Real alcoholics” can’t stop on their own (according to them) only through AA and God’s grace can you be granted a fearful day-by-day reprieve from your desire to drink.

In AA, you will be taught that you are powerless over alcohol and that you have a lifelong disease. Believing this stirs up cravings in some people. AA offers no practical solutions, only a quasi-religious program designed to enable you to have a personal relationship with God. Not drinking is seen as a byproduct of this new relationship.

That’s a toughie because the pros and cons of aa in my opinion are that while the meetings do help maintain sbobriety, build a stable network of sober friends, and above all it really helps you work on yourself and basically u get a sponsor who is the same gender as u are and u go thru a cycle of 12 steps in which u truely learn a lot about yourself and could possibly give some insight on what’s missing in ur life; on the other hand, hearing stories about alcohol and focusing more on NOT drinking alcohol could make u more prone to drinking. So I would probaby try two or three meetings and decide for urself. Good luck to u
