I’ve just turned 48, almost 3 years sober. A 12 year on/off romance is over. Is marriage possible? Kids?

Anything at all is possible, though at 48 years of age, do you really want to be raising children? You’ll be 70 by the time they hit college. I’m not saying you ~shouldn’t~ just that it really needs a lot of thoughtful consideration. Health and financial mostly.
I would honestly say that if you have the money and you are in a loving relationship, both of you are willing, then sure, do it.
Marriage is all ways possible. and kids could be too. congrats on making 3 yrs. good luck for yor future.
Are you kidding me, you may have forty years still left. That’s a long time to be on one’s own!!
I’m sorry but I can’t help asking how can romance be on/off. It’s either on or off in my book. Don’t get bogged down in something that’s not right for the fear of been on your own.
You just gotta look in the right places but without seeming too keen. No-one likes a cling-on.
Get on a vegetarian cookery course – they’ll be some interesting girls there alright. Probably all single (joke!).
What you need to do is get someone you know to put you on this site:
http://www.mysinglefriend.com/
You can then get your friends to recommend someone also on the site too. And it’s the perfect ice breaker – you just contact these people by saying my friends insist that you contact who they recommend to you so “here I am saying hello” – perfect ice breaker. There will be loads of singles around your age. If it don’t lead to romance it’ll certainly be interesting who you meet out of it. And don’t have any pre-conceived ideas about how they look. If you click with someone and they make your heart flutter they will get better looking, if you fancy someone at first and you don’t click with them then they will be a lot less appealing to you.
Don’t worry about the kids. Who want’s babies at your age. Any girl you meet at your age will probably have a brood of her own that you can take or leave depending on how you get on with them.
Update your square hair and your dull wardrobe. Girls hate scruffy shoes – comon man, I know it’s a pain, we men don’t give a sh*t about stuff like that but you gotta play the game. The attitude of ‘they will have to accept me for who I am’ may just attract a simialar scruff-bag so go and get some nice clothes – they don’t have to be designer cr*p, just updated and clean.
Loose a few pounds and get fit.
Stick to 1800 calories a day instead of the 3000 that you don’t even notice is in your ready-meals.
Brekky = one soya yog
Through day = two pitta breads & light mayo stuffed full of green stuff – spinich or dark lettuce
it works!
yeh , I’m hungrey all the time but but it’s better than eating cr*p
that all adds up to only 600 cals so you can have a huge meal in the evening and you are still below your 1800 limit. any snacks must have below 100 cals on the packet. Yes, I know, they even print this stuff on the packets!! You can’t go wrong. Evening meals have to be healty though. No lardy fry up everynight and no stodgy desserts.
I am so glad you are off the booze – it’s a mugs game but you don’t realise that until it’s too late. (and it’s liquid fat so you aint’ gonna lose weight whilst pouring that sh/t down you)
Five years in the same job led me to booze so I think you have done pretty well after 25.
To get fit you really need to do some daily activity. Going to the gym two nights a weeks will keep you at the same level, however if you are a tubby wobbler then you ain’t ever gonna get fitter doing that. Every day I’m afraid. It does work though.
Try this: go for a brisk walk everyday. It’s a start. Then after a month it’ll go to 45mins. Then before you know it it’ll be 2 – 3 hours on a weekend as well. Only if you want to improve you fitness though. If you don’t, you won’t want to leave your sofa. Find some excuse to get out for a walk, and no – walking to the cake shop is not good enough. getting a dog is great and there are loads of little sad dogs in the rescue centre who would love going for a brisk half-hour walk every day. And girls love dogs.
This is how my fitness went for me:
I started a brisk 45 minute walk everyday.
at first i hated it as I thought i have other things to do
after a month never even noticed it
then started upping my time
then thought i can’t go on like this so bought a treadmill
I couldn’t even run on the treadmill when i got it – you should see me now!!!
three months later I am like a different fella.
So it all sounds easy but it sure ain’t.
get on the mysinglefriend – it’s all laid out for you pal – nowadays you don’t have try so hard. Back when I was a kid if someone had a penfriend they were a geek. Now everybody’s got hundreds of them in the chatrooms. The internet is ideal to at least find someone interesting. Romance may be a result but who cares – that’ll come when you least expect it……….Good luck pal.
