Question by busymom4boyz: Anyone a recovering or recovered addict??
I ahve a frined who is really trying to be supportive of her man while he is going through a very rough addiction. He used to do what she says “hard drugs” (nnot quite specific though) but now has reaplced that with smoking weed. he has a lot of bad habits from being in the street for years but you can see he really does love her and wants to try to do better. He is going to go for treatment but also can be facing some jail time soon. Has any of you been there? Have you fully recovered? Do you think it is possible for him to turn it around? Did your recovery start with or without jail involved?

My recovery didn’t really start with jail although I wish it would have. I had to almost die a couple times before I decided that was enough. If it wasn’t for my honey being there for me and the weed I smoke I would have never made it thru. He needs alot of support adn insentives to be better. It can be doen but it is really hard work and it has to be something he really wants.

every addict has to reach their own bottom (level) jail time is not so bad as life in prison.however that is where he is at at this time hopefully he has had enough but who knows only the addict
no one i know of totally recovers from drugs. its a disease. treatment is the only way. i personally have to work harder on recovery than i did to be an addict today.
There is no such thing as a recovered addict, if it was that simple there would be a cure and I would have been glad to take it. It cant be for any thing or any one else but your self. All I can say is if he is going to sober up and suffer til he gets his peace of mind that he doesnt grow to resent her for it.
Beware is all I can say to smoking weed instead of what ever else hes on. Still in addiction if your still useing.
