Question by SLR: What is the relation between a recovered alcoholic and chaos?
I fell for an old college friend who is a recovered alcoholic. He says I’m too chaotic and can’t have that in his life. I’m kind of emotional about him and moody. I feel really sad that he doesn’t want anything to do with me, I love something about him. Maybe the old feelings, not sure.

He is probably the one with the problem as he is allready battling a big one, not you, maybe if you be patient he will come around

Alcoholics need structure and routine in their life to help them stay sober. Spur of the moment, and carefree chaotic lifestyles are a danger to sobriety. Not to say that sobriety can’t be fun and enjoyable. The alcoholics old lifestyle was based on anger, resentment, fear, instability,= chaos. Even if it was of their own making. It sounds like your friend really wants to stay sober. Maybe you could attend a few AA meetings with or without him. It may help you understand him better. Good luck.
