  1. desireenyankees2 Says:

drinking every day even if it is not in excess and as well as every time you drink you drink so much that you get sick.

  2. Sir Psycho Sexy Says:

When you need alcohol to feel normal, and when you need alcohol to function in daily life.

  3. renee Says:

    1. drinking more than socially or finding reasons to drink socially.
    2. needing more alcohol to achieve the same level of feeling “high” than previously.

  4. Pico Says:

Not being able to stop drinking once you start. Like they say in AA, “One drink is too many and a thousand is not enough”

Drinking to the point of literally blacking out, not just passing out or falling asleep, although those could be signs as well.

I don’t know if it’s a ‘symptom’ but a history of alcoholism in the family is a hint. There is a genetic disposition to alcoholism if, say your parents or grandparents are alcoholics.
