What are the long term effects of an methadone overdose?

ADDICTION NEWS Add comments

I am just curious about what a methadone overdose does to your body in the long term?
What I mean is that my brother in law took WAY too much methadone and had no pulse and was not breathing and he is now in ICU and I was curious about what shape he is going to be in now

An “overdose” is usually used to denote DEATH by overdose…never heard of it in any other context…but if you mean what happens if you take too much (of anything, not just methadone) but don’t actually die…organ damage throughout the body, i would presume…especially the liver and kidneys whose job it is to filter it out of your body.

There usually isn’t a long term problem.

    Want to know why?

Because in short term it can kill you.
