I know there are people out there who would say that the person has to hit rock bottom first, that he has to do it on his own… But I have heard of cases wherein the addict was forced to undergo addiction treatment, and that worked well. I just want to convince my sister to get herself treated for her alcohol addiction.

I think it’s really good that you’re so concerned about the welfare of your sister. You see, a lot of people who are dependent upon a substance don’t realize that they have a problem. One thing I think you can do is to talk to her when she’s sober. If that doesn’t work, then maybe you should do an alcohol intervention for her. You can talk to an intervention specialist about this. This is a process aimed to get the person to undergo treatment. Good luck!

Best question!My nephew is so spun on being as high as he can everyday,that he’s suicidal.He’s been in forced rehab.It scares me,too many other relatives enable him not knowing.An intervention hasn’t worked with other people who are now gone.All I can say is hope & pray they’ll see the light.
