Alcoholism starts when a person is dependent upon their drink. If someone drinks 2 beers a day, every day and cannot go without drinking them, they need to take a serious look at themselves and realize they have a problem. Someone who is drinking a 6 pack a day when you can’t afford to pay for the basics. That is a problem and you are not wrong for thinking that way. It’s a challenge for someone to admit they have a problem, and for those who love them to really get through to them and make them realize how much their habit is hurting not only them…but you. Try talking to him, let him know how you feel about it and don’t let him make you think he doesn’t have a problem. Don’t nag the man to death or come at him with a strong and accusing attitude, as this will not be a likely way to work, but pick your moment and talk calmly about the situation and how you feel about his behavior. Good luck, hope everything works out.
If it’s 6 or below no 6 or less yes. No you are not right. Is something bothering you? Do you have a guilty conscience or any kind of problems at all? IF you do solve these problems and you’ll be okay. If you just drink because you like it, thats a problem. Limit yourself to less less everyday. Like the 1rst day drink 1 less, 2nd day drink 3 less and so on till you get to 1 bottle.
It’s very hard to define what qualifies a person as being an “alcoholic”. Alcoholism is not always defined by the amount of alcohol consumed or the number of days in a row it is consumed. Alcoholism is mostly defined on the dependence a person has on the alcohol they consume. A person could drink one beer everyday. Will this one beer make them drunk? Not likely. But if they absolutely have to have this one beer every day in order to make it through the day, then it could be said that they are “dependent” on alcohol or be classified an alcoholic by this definition. But, you can ask this question of ten people and you’ll likely get ten different answers! When the alcohol affects your family life, your job, and your health, it doesn’t matter if it’s one beer a day or a six pack a day, the alcohol is affecting your life and that makes you an alcoholic! The only difference in the amount of alcohol consumed would be the “legal” definition of being drunk! One drink would not register enough alcohol to be “legally” drunk according to the law. Having a six pack over the course of a few hours would likely make you “over the limit” and you could be “under the influence”. You stated that you can’t pay the bills. Therefore I believe that this could be classified as “affecting the family life”. The person will first have to admit they have a problem before they can be helped. Good luck with getting this person some “help” before anything tragic can happen.
