Question by dominique b: How to persuade or convince a person to undergo addiction treatment?
I know there are people out there who would say that the person has to hit rock bottom first, that he has to do it on his own… But I have heard of cases wherein the addict was forced to undergo addiction treatment, and that worked well. I just want to convince my sister to get herself treated for her alcohol addiction.
Best answer:
Answer by astrid a I think it’s really good that you’re so concerned about the welfare of your sister. You see, a lot of people who are dependent upon a substance don’t realize that they have a problem. One thing I think you can do is to talk to her when she’s sober. If that doesn’t work, then maybe you should do an alcohol intervention for her. You can talk to an intervention specialist about this. This is a process aimed to get the person to undergo treatment. Good luck!

Question by Penny M: Can a lawyer do free work for a third party for referrals to him? 3rd party works for drug treatment center.?
Girl works for drug/alcohol treatment center, people ask for referrals for attorney, she refers one in particular and that attorney does pro bono work for her. Is this legal. It seems that there is a “captive audience” as these people in treatment need legal help.
Best answer:
Answer by Barry C They are not obliged to hire him once referred, nor is he obligated to take their case.
Would you rather her say – I know you are in a weakened state right now and we are working on trust issues with you, but if you need legal help, all I can recommend is good luck to you!”?
Is that more helpful somehow?
