Does alcoholism contribute to hair loss?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 2 Comments »

I’m an alcoholic and my hair has started thinning. I went to an AA meeting and noticed 90% of the men were suffering from hair loss. My question is whether alcoholism contributes to hair loss or if hair loss contributes to alcoholism?

I have a friend that has been using crystal meth for about 4 months now and really wants top quit.?

I want to help her but as I have little to no experience with drugs other than pot I am not sure what to do to help. I have offered her a place to stay for free as long as she is clean. I live 45 km from town and there is no bus service so she will be relying on me for transportation but how can I be sure she is staying of the crap and how can I help her through the detox?

Jonny 5′s Rhyme of the Day 1-11-10 “Gasoline”

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 22 Comments »

(pt. 11 of 365) This is a rhyme called “Gasoline” I wrote a few years ago and have performed only once, for a solo set at the Roxy in Denver. At the time I was working with a group of young people in recovery for various types of addiction. I also was thinking a lot about a friend who was struggling intensely with alcoholism, or actually a better way to say it was that he is an alcoholic and was drinking a lot, and his friends were struggling with that. I also had just been at a party where a friend’s cousin got drunk and seemed determine to start a fight with some neighborhood kids. It all added up to this song. In high school and during most of my college years, a strong part of my identity was celebrating my ability to have fun without drugs or alcohol. Looking back, I’m glad I developed my identity without those influences. Over the last ten years I have let go of that as a central part of my identity, and I have at times integrated drinking into my routine. I’ve learned some things about myself this way too, but when it comes down to it, the sober me sure seems like a realer me than the drunk me. I find it interesting how ever-present this alcohol-related questions are: Should we do this show if it’s endorsed by alcohol companies? How can we host events that are welcoming to friends in recovery? What happens if students see a teacher drinking on his facebook page? Why are their so few places for sober nightlife? Does drinking make us dumber and more boring? Does

If alcohol is an addictive poison how can a little bit be good for you?

ALCOHOLISM ADDICTION 9 Comments »

A little bit of alcohol is actually good for you right? A glass of red wine a day?

In France it is true that although they have a high fat diet there is a low incidence of coronary heart disease. There is though a higer rate of liver cirrhosis. Surely this is proof that due to it’s addictive nature very few people indeed actually stick to the small and regular amount necessary to give you this protective effect? Kind of like chocolate being good for you – true but you’ll get really fat by eating enough of it for this to happen!

If I told you that a small amout of heroine was actually good for you would you start taking that too?
Just a quick point on naturopathic medicine taken from Wilipedia:

‘Dr. Stephen Barrett (of Quackwatch and the National Council Against Health Fraud) has stated that the philosophy of naturopathic medicine is “simplistic and that its practices are riddled with quackery’

Alternative stress relief?

Uncategorized 8 Comments »

Okay, so recently ive been really down in the dumps. Nothing seems to be going right in my life lately. I lost my 50k a year job. My car is broken down. And to top it all off i got a very nice apartment right before i lost my job. Now im struggling to make ends meet on unemployment. I also just started a cigarette free life. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and and an anxiety/ panic disorder several years ago. I feel like my life is crumbling.
I have a history of really bad drug addictions so i dont want to take stress meds out of fear of addiction, I know i will become addicted so please dont suggest pills. I just want to know alternative ways to chill the hell out. I thought about deep meditation. I would like to know how this works and how to achieve a state of complete relaxation. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Self hypnosis, sacred Geomotry…..anything! just explain yourself in detail. i really need something here before i fall apart.. Thank you so much
yeah jr i was being serious on this question mate. thanks for a useless and insulting answer; youve been reported.
