9 days later, I still have a bruise the size and shape of an iPhone around where the needle went in.
I have always bruised fairly easily. When friends would punch each other on the arm in the schoolyard, I would frequently bruise, and they would always last for a while, but never 9 days.
I am a healthy 21 year old male. I eat right, am fairly active and do not do any drugs. Except, I do drink excessively once a week (up to 25 alcohol consumptions per week, all in the same night though). I have been researching my problem on the internet and I have found out that liver cirrhosis causes easy bruising. Needless to say I am freaked out when reading that this is an irreversible disease.
I guess my question is, is it normal to keep a bruise this size, for this long, for just a tiny needle for a blood test?
Will the people analyzing my blood check for everything? (The reason for my blood test was a pre-op evaluation for a cosmetic procedure). Because I’ve read that you need to check for it specifically to find it.
By the way, yes, after reading up on cirrhosis, I will immediately eliminate my night of binge drinking.
There was a time in my life where I was what you would describe as an alcoholic, where I would drink 20+ alcohol consumptions daily (between ages 18-21) I have seriously cut back on my drinking (only giving me one night a week where I allow myself to drink), but I fear that the damage is already done.
Is three years of excessive drinking enough to cause irreversible damage to the liver?
