Sleater-Kinney’s Last Show: 24. Dig Me Out

ADDICTION NEWS 2 Comments »

Sleater-Kinney’s last performance, on August 12th, 2006, at the Crystal Ballroom in their hometown of Portland, Oregon. A kickass, punky indie rock band, the best to come out of the Portland music scene, and what I believe is the best band associated with riot grrrl, no contest. Catchy as hell to boot, and responsible for the best album of 2005, The Woods, which kicks the shit out of anything else that came out that year in terms of sheer rockoutness. This is one of their best gigs. You can tell they really wanted to go out with a bang. Highlights include an incendiary performance of End of You, probably the definitive version, and Entertain, the best punk song written since Lord knows when. Setlist: 01. The Fox 02. The End of You 03. Wilderness 04. Jumpers 05. One Beat 06. Step Aside 07. The Hot Rock 08. Rollercoaster 09. All Hands on the Bad One 10. Night Light 11. What’s Mine Is Yours 12. Stay Where You Are 13. Modern Girl 14. Let’s Call It Love 15. Entertain 16. Sympathy 17. Words & Guitar Encore #1: 18. Milkshake ‘n’ Honey 19. You’re No Rock ‘n’ Roll Fun 20. Not What You Want 21. Steep Air 22. God Is A Number 23. Oh! 24. Dig Me Out Encore #2: 25. Good Things 26. Turn It On 27. One More Hour Special Thanks to the following people who allowed me to get this gig on youtube for the first time in a beautiful, widescreen, non-mediocre resolution: Carl Z and Rainman at the SK W&G board for creating the DVD and circulating it, Prophetofog, for getting me my copy and for

Gensokyo Holiday Songlist Preview + DEADLYBLOW Single Expert

ADDICTION NEWS 7 Comments »

DOWNLOAD HERE: www.mediafire.com www.filefront.com This is the completed songlist for my personal pad pack, Gensokyo Holiday (just in time for the holidays, see what I did there?). Originally, this was only going to be a mini pack released late summer/early autumn with about 8 songs, celebrating the new releases from Comiket 76 (Touhou 12 and 12.3, primarily, using songs from the OST’s), along with maybe a few files which had been sitting around unreleased on my computer for a good year or so. But, the pack suffered delay after delay, and when I finally found the time to start working on it again, I decided to round the pack out with a wider song list. A few months later, this is what I come up with. While the pack is Touhou themed (obviously), I still aimed for diversity on all fronts; the musical styles, the difficulty spectrum, and the style of the stepcharts. The pack has 25 songs, ranging from hardstyle to acoustic flamenco, from short 9′s to lengthy 14′s, and from simple straightforward files to more gimmicky, experimental types. All of the stepcharts, novice through expert, are written by me (although, as a forewarning to non-expert players, most of my attention was focused on the expert charts). Anyway, consider this my little Christmas present to all of you. Happy Holidays! ;) Special thanks go out to ChaosAngel092, KakashiMr, and Myonbel for finding some great music for me to step!

Life’s Complicated Enough NIDA

ADDICTION NEWS Comments Off

Teen speaks about the dangers of drug addiction, how she became involved in consuming and selling drugs, and her path to recovery. Did you know that most teens don’t use drugs? In fact, NIDAs latest survey that measures drug use and attitudes about drug use among high school teens shows a long-term decline in cigarette smoking, alcohol, marijuana and some other drugs. However, we are seeing a high rate of prescription drug abuse among teens. Last year, nearly one in ten high school seniors reported nonmedical use of Vicodin and one in twenty reported abusing Oxycontin, both potentially addictive opioid painkillers. Just because its prescribed by a doctor doesnt mean its not dangerous, and people should only use these drugs the way the doctor recommends. The biggest problem of drug use with teens is that there is no way to know who will become addicted. If you take the risk and try drugs, your life could become very complicated. For more information on drug use trends in high school, go to www.nida.nih.gov teens.drugabuse.gov Comments on this video are allowed in accordance with our comment policy: www.newmedia.hhs.gov

Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster Part 2

Uncategorized Comments Off

“This is not a film about Metallica it’s a film about relationships.” – Drummer Lars Ulrich, to Rolling Stone Three years in the making, this new film from acclaimed documentary filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky (the team that created BROTHER’S KEEPER and PARADISE LOST) provides a fascinating, in-depth portrait of the most successful heavy metal band of all time, as they faced monumental personal and professional challenges while recording their first studio album of original songs in five years. In the tradition of such seminal music documentaries as DON’T LOOK BACK and GIMME SHELTER, METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER seeks to transcend the conventions of the “rock n’ roll movie” genre, trading rock-star posing for truthful introspection, and revealing an intimate portrait of the individuals behind a legendary band and their unique creative journey. As filming began, Metallica unexpectedly split with their long-time bassist Jason Newsted. Relations between the longtime band-mates were at an all-time low, and since Metallica hadn’t toured or released an album for several years, fans and the music press were questioning Metallica’s future. Creatively and personally at odds, yet under pressure to begin recording their new album St. Anger, the band’s management suggested they start group therapy as a last-ditch effort to keep the splintering group from unraveling. As therapy continued, the band confronted the notion that despite their many years together, they barely
