Alcoholism is not a matter of how much you drink. It is a mental dependency on drink.
There are many social and physiologica factors. Some people just drink too much, but will never become true alcoholics. Others can be a true alcoholic from the first time they taste it. I think you have to have true physiological (bodily) dependance on it before you can be called alcoholic – that means have withdrawals such as shakes, DT’s, nausea, sickness, etc. That is a medical definition though, and there are many people who’s lives get screwed up by alcohol without these things. People beat up their wives and kids, molest their daughters (a huge percentage of pedophiles are also alcoholics and bipolar), argue with their bosses and get fired, miss work, forget tests at school and screw up relations with family members (how often have you seen people fight at family gatherings after even a few drinks? So, fight the good fight, if you think it’s causing a problem in any way – STOP!!! Who needs the damned stuff anyway?
