Can the presence of acetone in a mixture cause a false positive test for the presence of methamphetamine?

I have a client that contends he mixed a laxative, a multivitamin and some acetone together and sold it to an informant as methamphetamine. The SBI lab report shows the presence of meth. Either my client is lying, or the informant or police switched substances or the lab got a false positive. We are taking the case to trial. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A screening test might make an error, but chromatography would not. And you still have an intent there, regardless of the actual stuff.
Methamphetamine test results are not affected by these substances. Urine drug tests are substance and derivative metabolite specific. Commonly-taken medications such as laxatives and vitamins are chemically and structurally different after being metabolized by the body from the drugs being tested for and therefore they do not interfere with test results.
